Scope and Contents
From the Item:
Church Bulletins contain the nearly complete running of weekly bulletins produced by Zion Lutheran Church for the greater part of the 51 year stretch between 1929 and 1979. These bulletins informed the congregation on events and developments at the church as well as religious insturction and messages. Some bulletins also refer to nationally hisotric events such as Pearl Harbor, and the Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr. assassinations. The scope of this series shows the large changes in style as as well as paper material used to produce these bulletins. From 1939 to 1972, and accelerating throughout the 1940's, Zion Lutheran Church began using nationally produced United Lutheran Church in America and Muhlenberg Press covers for their bulletins. These natioanlly produced covers became increasingly colorful and refeclt American political and social trends from the 1940's through the 1970's. Each folder contains two sets of the bulletins for that calender year. 1965 has 3 sets and is divided into two folders.
