Scope and Contents

The oversize box contains the Athens Zion Evanglical Lutheran Church's records which are too large for preservation in the other boxes. This series has 113 Glebe Land Records from 1784-1826 as well as a receipt, bill and map related to glebe lands. There are also legal documents, including deeds, agreements and a plea from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. Of particular note is the 1744 deed and 1828 copy of the 1727 Church charter. There are also undated deeds for lands for the church minister and schoolmaster.
