Scope and Contents
This manuscript survey map shows signs that it was previously bound, and bears no indication as to by whom the map was drafted or what purpose it served. The survey shows the southern section of the east side of the Village of Catskill, being the lands east of Catskill Creek and south of William Street extending to Catskill Point and the banks of the Hudson River. All roads are shown and labeled with lots of land drawn filled in only for specific areas. The properties thus described are at the intersection Broad and Green Streets, East of Libterty Street, and on lower Broad Street at the River. The names of parcel owners are given. Also filled in fully is a rendering of the 1805 division of the lands under water granted to John Cantine in 1795 that comprise modern Catskill Point.
Of note are a selection of buildings included in the map - specifically the original home of James Powers on land he owned to the South and East of a lot owned by Mark Spencer, as well as a penciled rendition of the home of Robert Dorlon on William Street.
