Biographical / Historical

This collection was assembled by and originally in the care of June Clark, a former trustee of the Greene County Historical Society who lived in Greenville in the former home of the Henry T. Botsford Family. Ms. Clark became increasingly interested in the builders and former residents of her home as she commenced the process of restoring the building to a period-appropriate condition. Her interest culminated in a rather in-depth research project concerning the Botsfords of Greenville which led to the Henry T. Botsford House being placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1891, the Henry T. Botsford House is a wood-framed three story estate constructed in the Queen Ann style and sits along State Route 32 South of the intersection with Route 81 in the hamlet of Greenville. In addition to compiling sufficient research to place the Botsford House on the National Register of Historic Places Ms. Clark also spent considerable time and effort researching the lineage and accomplishments of the family dating back to the period immediately following the end of the American Revolution, with particular focus on the Botsford Family's arrival in Greenville. Her complete research files were donated to the Greene County Historical Society with the assistance of her friend and Greenville Town Historian Don Teator on the lamented occasion of her move from Greenville in 2017.
