Scope and Contents
This series comprises a selection of articles on steamboats written by Samuel Van Aken from the late 1930s through the end of World War Two. Most articles within are photocopies with multiple articles on various steamboats per page. Where possible clipped original copies of each steamboat article are inserted in the file alongside the photocopy versions drawn from what may have been Mr. Van Aken's personal scrapbook.

This series comprises a selection of correspondence between Clarice Weeks Millspaugh and Forrest Van Loon Ryder [alias Jerome Lawson] concerning Hudson River steamboats. Included in the series is a considerable array of transcribed articles by Samuel Van Aken and others which were prepared and mailed by Mrs. Millspaugh to Mr. Ryder while the latter was incarcerated at the South Carolina State Pennitentiary in Columbia, SC.
