Scope and Contents

This file contains Charles Ernst Memorial Collection containing the family records of Charles Ernst (1834-1874), including his 1856 Columbia County state court naturalization order, a 1858 marriage certificate (in German), a 1863 Certificate of Non-liability issued by the Board of Enrollment granting him a Civil War military duty exemption, a family vital record, and 1874 Independent Order of Odd Fellows (I.O of O.F.) letter and resolutions expressing sympathy for his murder by Joseph Waltz. Also included are two printed booklets: an Rechnungs Tabellen (accounts tables calculator) (in German), published in 1825 in Reutlingen, Baden-Wurttemberg, and an 1882 calendar almanac (in German).
