Scope and Contents
File contains a a selection of documents related to the properties and operations of ice companies with interests at Catskill in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Of note is a mortgate and bond of the New York Ice Company with Gilbert Seaman of New York placed on a parcel of riverfront land at Catskill. Also included are several agreements described as the following:
- A lease agreement of the firm of Stead and Hughes [Rachel Stead and William Hughes] with the firm of Johnston and Palmer [Edgar Johnston and Arthur Palmer] for the latter to lease a portion of an ice house at the foot of Bronson Street in Catskill. - An agreement to fill the "Brown Ice House" located on Catskill Creek between William Hughes and the Scott Ice Company of New York. - An agreement of Stead and Hughes to fill an ice house at Catskill on behalf of the Burns Brothers Ice Company of New York.
