Scope and Contents
File contains two documents. The first is a list of pedlars issued a license for the year 1821 in the village of Athens compiled by Nathan Clark, either in the capacity of a clerk or justice of the peace. The second document is a notice to liquor sellers in the village of Athens that they are forbidden to sell liquor to Reuben Coffin who has been proven by his wife Kate Coffin to be a habitual drinker of intoxicating liquors. This particular notice was delivered to William Decker, a purveyor in spirits and possibly a tavern keeper.
