Scope and Contents

This scrapbook contains an interesting selection of manuscript materials and ephemera related to the early history of the Village of Athens, as well as contemporary articles. Of note is an early pritned copy of the 1836-1837 Athens Coporation Account, as well as a selection of clippings concerning the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse and the Brunner family around the period that the lighthouse was portrayed on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post. Also of note is an article by Samuel Van Aken on the sloop CHARLES LYNCH which was converted to the steamboat DAVID in 1892. This volume contains no index.
