A Ledger Containing Maps and Descriptions of Lands at Catskill Point.
Item — Container: Manuscript Shelves
Identifier: MV 1713
Scope and Contents
Ledger contains maps corresponding to descriptions of deeds filed at the Greene County Clerk's office for lands on the east side of Catskill Creek covering the neighborhoods of lower/middle Main Street and Catskill Point. Original Deed descriptions commence apparently with purchases by John Cantine around 1795, and each described patent or parcel contains a chain of custody for subsequent divisions of each lot dating forward to the 1870s. Terms used to describe features in the original patents include Skilleput Point and Femine Hock, and concern lots in the Lindsay Patent. Several of the maps are copies of early surveys and show the locations of some early homes in the Village of Catskill.
