Scope and Contents

This map shows a selection of the lands of David Abeel, Garrett Abeel, Catherine Abeel, Anthony Abeel, and their neighbors situated along the Cauders Kill [Kaaterskill Creek] in the Town of Catskill. The lands of various family members and neighbors are delineated with separate colored lines, and both built and natural landscape features are shown. Included is an accurate rendering of the course of the Kaaterskill Creek and the high bluffs that overlook it where the old Catskill Turnpike [State Route 23A] crosses on its route westward. Also shown are the home and barn of an unnamed Brandow on Catherine Abeel's lands, the home and barn of David Abeel, a house and barn of Garrett Abeel on his land, and an unnatributed structure on the east side of the Kaaterskill. Two mill dams are shown on the unnamed tributary that flows into the Kaaterskill below David Abeel's home.
