Coal Book of C. L. Beach and Company

Scope and Contents Item is a bound ledger containing the accounts of various residents of the Village of Catskill with Charles L. Beach and Company for deliveries of Coal. It appears that accounts were both for residential users and businesses. An alphabetical index of all account holders appears at the front of the ledger. On pages 415 to 422 appear what seems to be an account possibly of coal useage or sales from the Steamboat Redfield, and a separate account follows for the "McManus Hay Dock."

Scope and Contents This file contains correspondence of Dr. Cornell with his brother Frederick. Many letters are of a decidedly somber tone, one concerns assisting with funding possibly for a nephew's college education. Of note is one letter that mentions apples being shipped in barrels by him to his brother on either the barge "Jefferson" or "New Baltimore."

Of note on the survey is that each dock, wharf, or landing in the Village is marked out with its relative location. These included two docks given as "Shipyard Dock," the slip for the Hudson-Athens Ferry, the Steamboat Dock, Howland's Dock, Vroman's Dock, the buildings of the Knickerbocker Ice Company, D.
