Scope Note: Coeymans is a township in Albany County settled by Europeans in 1639 and incorporated in 1791. It derives its name from Barent Pieteres Koijemans, who was the first Dutch resident of the vicinity and a major landowner. It is bordered on the south by New Baltimore Township [Greene County], east by the Hudson River, and west by Westerlo.
