Bonds: Greene County, 1803-1835

Scope and Contents File contains an assortment of several dozen personal bonds for money made between private individuals across several townships in Greene County. The majority of the bonds were written and witnessed by John L. Bronk, Abraham Van Dyck, and Peter H. Silvester as partners of the Coxsackie law firm of Bronk and Van Dyck and the subequent firm of Bronk and Silvester. An inventory of the bonds within is included.

Scope and Contents File contains a selection of correspondence between John E. Boos of Albany, NY and Perry M. deLeon of Virginia and Helen Brainard Cole of Wisconsin about their experiences during the American Civil War. Of particular note within the Correpondence is discussion of Mrs. Cole's wartime service and dialogue with Mr. DeLeon about the terminology used to describe those who fought for the Confederate States of America during the war. Scope and Contents File contains a single booklet printed at Troy by the Columbian Book-Store containing two songs deriding the English for their losses during the American Revolution and War of 1812. The First song titled "British Taxation" is set to the tune of the folk song "William Reily" while the other is titled "A Lesson to John Bull" and set to the tune of "Yankee Doodle."

Scope and Contents File contains a copy of the Last Will and Testament of John L. Bronck, a brother of Judge Leonard Bronck of Coxsackie. Also included is an unsigned document titled "Our Country" which is a lengthy work of prose concerning the newly formed United States, its philosophical and historical merits as a new country, and speculations on its destiny.
